We just got off the Mariner and had cabin 7688.  The stairways you refer to are closed off and marked as "crew only", even for the lifeboat drill.  I thought the same as you, but was disappointed. dave

Response:

Ain’t that the truth!  A major design flaw in my book.  We had a Cat D aft, which I liked, but not when I hiked!  We did discover the "staff" staircase and ended up using it liberally…. So you’re relaying your gut feel, and you have substantial, relevant credentials in that regard.  I can respect that, whether or not it helps me "feel" the experience you’re relaying.  Thanks for the input! — bicker
